Educating the Family, One Member At A Time

SUPPORT OUR YOUTH

How to help

Exactly how important is education to our American society? Kofi Annan, the 17th Secretary-General of the United Nations, once said, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.”  We agree with this statement and are committed to securing our future through education empowerment of our youth.

The cost of a college education continues to rise. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, "Between 2006–07 and 2016–17, prices for undergraduate tuition, fees, room, and board at public institutions rose 31 percent, and prices at private nonprofit institutions rose 24 percent, after adjustment for inflation" (NCES, 2020). These are burdensome trends for today's youth. It is imperative to our society that we continue to support the education of our youth.

We have first-hand knowledge of the success that this type of support has on the future economic outlook of individuals and our society.  For example,

  • In 2016, DeJanae Terry, a 2012 Family Affair Initiative Inc. recipient, graduated from Central Michigan University.

  • A 2013 scholarship recipient, Craig M. Johnson graduated from the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign in 2019

  • Darleane Martin, also a 2013 recipient, graduated from Fisk University in 2018, and

  • Sandra Garcia, a 2014 recipient, also graduated from the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign in 2018.

These are just a few of the 60 FAMILY AFFAIR award  recipients who have experienced success at the post-secondary level of education and beyond.

We are requesting individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations to lend your support to this much needed effort by placing an Ad in our special edition commemorative book by June 1, 2021 or by making a sponsorship donation to The Family Affair Initiative Inc.

Don't just make a donation, make a difference. Your tax-deductible contribution will help to make a difference in the lives of these young people.

The Family Affair Initiative Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
